Secure the unit
Keep the unit closed and restrict entry. Do not allow staff, contractors or family to enter and begin removing items before remediation.
Arrange remediation
Bring in a biohazard cleanup company to assess the true extent of contamination. In most cases flooring, subfloor and affected furnishings are involved.
Then repairs
Only after decontamination should flooring, drywall and paint work begin. Repairing over contamination leads to persistent odor.
